Goals and Objectives

  • To understand student the knowledge about political functions of the government at International, National, State and local levels.
  • To enlighten the students to understand basic rights and duties of the citizen and help in Process of development of the nation.
  • To develop leadership skill in student.
  • To make students competent enough to seek employment through Competitive Exam.
  • To provide platform to the first generation learners from rural and tribal area
  • To organize several activities, programmes and courses for political, social, ethical and cultural development of semi-urban area students

SWOC Analysis of the Department:

Strength :

  • Department organizes several student centered curricular, co-curricular, extra-curricular and extension activities for their professional grooming.
  • Big contribution of students in College Gatherings, NSS activities, Voters day
  • Good number of books in College library (through Foundation course in Human Rights Education).
  • Department has run Foundation course in Human Rights Education.
  •  Successfully organized National Level Seminar

Weakness:

  • Less of students’ participation from rural area in dept. events due to time limits.
  • Women’s College, hence limitations to stay on campus for long time.
  • Lack of separate ICT class for organizing lectures and events.

Opportunity:

  • Opportunities to COC students to develop efficiency and competency.
  • Availability of jobs for careerists. (Election management and campaigning)
  • Scope for inter-disciplinary courses required for various competitive examinations.
  • Good employment potential, particularly for public services.

 Challenges:

  • Need to develop more leadership development programmes to upgrade students’ Leadership skill.
  • To expand the use of computer skills.
  • Design new courses considering the changing need of society.
  • Rural intake of students fails to respond dept. activities.
  • Need of increase in ICT for all classes

Future Plans of the Department:

  • To concentrate upon introducing more skill development courses
  • To increase students’ participation at institutional and social responsibilities
  • To enable students strengthen their placement competency through competitive exam.
  • To help tribal and rural students avail more job opportunities.
